Starting Your Google Ads Campaign: Do We Use Negative Keywords from the Start?

One of the first questions many clients ask is whether we begin with a preset list of negative keywords or start from scratch. Here’s how we handle it and why our approach is unique for the junk removal industry.

1. We Start with a Blank Slate (Mostly)

We generally start each campaign fresh, without a long list of preset negative keywords. The one exception? We always exclude “free” to prevent budget from being spent on searches for free services. Beyond that, we build out your negative keywords based on real data from your specific campaign, not a one-size-fits-all list.

This approach is intentional. Junk removal companies are often grouped in with waste management services, so if we start with a heavy list of negatives, it can accidentally block valuable search terms and choke your campaign’s reach. Instead, we focus on letting your campaign collect real data so we can refine keywords based on what’s actually driving results.

2. Why We Monitor and Optimize Keywords Aggressively

During the launch period, we’re constantly reviewing and refining your keyword list, including adding or removing negatives as needed. This gives us the flexibility to react to any unexpected terms and fine-tune your campaign for the fastest possible results.

3. The Importance of Communication

Your feedback is key. If you notice any keywords or terms in your campaign that aren’t relevant or are driving unhelpful traffic, just let us know. This open line of communication allows us to customize and optimize your campaign even further.

In Summary:

  • We start fresh: Only “free” is excluded at launch; the rest of the keywords are refined based on real campaign data.

  • Continuous optimization: We monitor and adjust keywords aggressively to keep your campaign on track.

  • Your input matters: Communication helps us tailor your campaign to meet your specific needs.

This approach gives us the flexibility to get the best results while keeping your budget focused on the most relevant traffic. Let us know if you have questions, and we’ll make sure your negative keywords in Google Ads campaign is optimized from every angle!✌️
