Good morning, haulers ☕
Money is a tool.
What if the reason you’re feeling stuck isn’t because you don’t have enough money, but because you’re focusing on it too much?
Money is the scorecard for the real game: the value you bring and the impact you make in the world.
This newsletter dives into why chasing dollars leads nowhere and how shifting your focus to creating impact can completely change your business—and your life.
What We’ll Cover
Why money is just the byproduct of impact, not the goal itself.
How focusing on value creation leads to lasting success.
Steps to shift your mindset and business strategy toward freedom.
Actionable tips to build systems that scale impact and drive sustainable growth.
Most business owners say they want more money. But you don’t really want money. What you want is what money gives you. Money is just a tool, a scorecard. The real game is about making an impact.
Think about it: People don’t pay you because you want money. They pay you because you’ve created something they value. Money is the result, not the pursuit.
And chasing money alone? It's a dead end.
I’ve seen it happen—people get stuck, stressed, and end up still broke af.
The real question isn’t, “How do I make more money?” It’s, “How do I create more value, more impact?” Because the size of your impact determines the size of your income.
Money Is a Byproduct, Not the Target
Take a look at your business right now. Are you grinding away, chasing jobs, and hoping the dollars add up? Or are you thinking about how to serve your customers in ways that leave a lasting impression? Lasting impressions that build long-term client relations.
Here’s a truth most people miss: Money measures your impact. It’s proof that you’re solving problems people care about.
Let’s say you run a home services business. You could choose to be the cheapest option in town, scrambling to book enough jobs to stay afloat. But here’s the thing: when you cater exclusively to customers who only care about price, you’re working with people who don’t truly value your service.
These customers see you as a transaction, not a solution. They’re not looking for quality, reliability, or an exceptional experience—they’re looking for the cheapest deal. And in that equation, it’s nearly impossible to make a real impact.
Now, don’t get me wrong—it’s perfectly fine to take on price-sensitive clients, as long as you’re making a profit and fitting these jobs in around higher-impact work. Business is business, and turning down profit doesn’t make sense. The key is balance. Price-driven jobs can fill the gaps, but they shouldn’t define your business or your reputation.
Imagine taking a different approach. Instead of racing to the bottom on price, you focus on being the company that shows up on time, exceeds expectations, and makes the process smooth and stress-free. When you do this, you’re not just providing a service—you’re solving a problem in a way that people remember.
The result? You attract customers who value what you do. These are the people who will pay a premium for excellence, refer you to others, and keep coming back. Impact drives income—but only when you’re working with customers who genuinely appreciate the value you bring. Striking the right balance ensures you’re maximizing both your profit and your long-term growth.
Guess which one earns more loyalty, referrals, and yes—money?
What Do You Actually Want?
Let’s zoom out. What do you really want? Chances are, it’s not just a fatter bank account.
What you’re chasing is freedom.
Freedom to step away from the day-to-day grind.
Freedom to choose which customers to work with.
Freedom to spend time with your family without your phone blowing up every five minutes.
Freedom to say 'NO'
That’s what money buys you: options, control, time.
But if you’re not careful, you’ll spend your life chasing money and never actually get to the freedom part.
Impact Leads to Freedom
So how do you get there? It’s not by chasing dollars—it’s by creating undeniable impact.
Think about this: The more value you create for your customers, the more they trust you, recommend you, and are willing to pay you. It’s a simple equation.
When I started hauling, I was doing it all—scraping by, taking every job, hustling non-stop. But when I shifted my focus to building a reputation, providing a better experience, and creating systems that scaled the impact we made, everything changed.
The money followed. And with it, the freedom to step out of the daily chaos and focus on bigger opportunities.
How to Build Impact (and Let Money Follow)
If you’re tired of the rat race, here’s what you need to do:
Get Crystal Clear on Your ImpactWhat’s the one thing your business does better than anyone else? Double down on it. Customers don’t remember “good enough.” They remember excellence.
Stop Chasing Price ShoppersCompeting on price is a losing game. You’re not in business to be the cheapest—you’re here to be the best. Focus on delivering quality, not cutting corners with discounts. Provide your best estimate confidently, and move on. They’ll either accept it, or they won’t—and that’s okay.
Systematize Your ExcellenceDon’t wing it. Build systems that guarantee every customer gets the same top-notch experience, every time. This is how you scale your impact without burning out. Start by literally writing it down as you go through real-life jobs—step by step. Document what works, refine it, and make it repeatable. That’s how you turn excellence into your standard.
Measure the Right MetricsForget vanity metrics like revenue alone. Track customer satisfaction, referrals, and repeat business. These tell you how much impact you’re really making.
Ask for Freedom, Not Just MoneyMoney alone won’t give you what you want. Think about how to create time and choices in your business. That’s where true freedom lives.
What We Learned
Money is just a scorecard for the value you provide.
The path to financial success is through impact—not chasing dollars.
True freedom comes from building systems that scale your impact, not your workload.
Customers remember exceptional service, not price tags. Excellence is always worth the investment.
The ultimate goal of money isn’t accumulation—it’s creating the freedom to live and work on your terms.
The Bottom Line
Stop thinking about money as the goal. It’s just the scoreboard. The real game is about impact—solving problems, serving people, and creating something worth paying for.
When you shift your focus to impact, the money takes care of itself. And when the money comes, don’t lose sight of what it’s for: buying your freedom.
So, the question isn’t “How do I make more money?” It’s “How do I create more impact?” Answer that, and you’ll have more money—and freedom—than you ever thought possible.✌️
